2019 Digital November in New Zealand (Novembre Numérique) [fr]

Every year during November, the Embassy of France in New Zealand will take part in the festival of digital culture, Novembre Numérique (“Digital November”), with the support of French and New Zealand partners.

Birdie Memory

Try out this free application at your nearest Alliance Française during this month of November.

This year for Digital November, we would like to enhance the link between digital, nature and biodiversity, all keeping everything aimed at a young audience.
A free application imagined and created by French artist Léna Mazilu, Birdie Memory is a playful method to learn to identify bird sounds. It consists of a large poster with illustrations of 20 birds that come to life and sing when you hold the application in front of them. These birds, selected by a bird scientist, can be found all over Europe, in the city as well as in the countryside.

Ma Petite Planète

This is an educational, digital game created by the Alliance Française of Wellington with the support of the Institut Français.

Aimed at children, this “Escape Game” within the audio-visual libraries of the Alliances Françaises and Instituts Français will be centred on 5 enigmas around the theme of 5 threats to biodiversity: overfishing, deforestation, plastic in the sea, poaching and melting of sea ice.

A mesmerising audiovisual performance by Franck Vigroux and Antoine Schmitt.

For Digital November 2019, the New Zealand audience will discover the creations of the duo with director-musician Franck Vigroux and the designer Antoine Schmitt.

French artist Franck Vigroux is an emblematic figure in the fields of electronics and improvisation. Chronostasis is the fruit of collaboration with visual artist Antoine Schmitt. Just like cerebral illusions, that affects the perception of the duration of a moment or of a quick jerk, Chronostasis amplifies the present moment to the extreme: an explosion of square pixels regenerate continually in different and simultaneous spaces of time, in slow motion, sped up, repeated in real time, backwards.
