ActInSpace NZ in Christchurch on May 25-26 [fr]
Initiated by the French Space Agency (CNES) and sponsored by Airbus, uniting over 60 cities across five continents, ActInSpace NZ will be held in Christchurch on May 25-26. Come and take part in a truly international event bringing together entrepreneurs, students, job seekers, developers and creatives worldwide!
ActInSpace is an international innovation contest, initiated by the French Space Agency (CNES) and supported by the European Space Agency (ESA) and ESA Business Incubation Centres network (ESA BIC). The 2018 event will be the third iteration of ActInSpace, and the first year that New Zealand will participate. The French Embassy is proud to be part of the organising committee and looks forward to working with the winning team from New Zealand, in preparation for the international finale in Toulouse, France.
By taking part in ActInSpace, you’ll be taking part in a truly international event bringing together entrepreneurs, students, job seekers, developers and creatives worldwide. For 24 hours, teams come together to work on real-life challenges alongside business mentors and technical experts and to imagine and design innovative services and products that find every day uses for space technologies or data.
And that’s just the beginning! The winning teams will proceed to the national and international finals to present their project to an international jury of experts on technology transfer and business development. All teams with promising projects will go on to receive guidance from ESA’s Business Incubation Centres and partner incubators to accelerate their project and turn their idea into a real company.
We want to make people dream bigger and develop their entrepreneurial spirit, especially young people
We aspire to show people just how amazing the space sector is and how it can positively impact on our daily life
We’re driven to demonstrate the social-economic potential of the space sector and its ability to boost startup creation
We look to build a bridge between civil society and space agencies to make patent licensing more accessible
We believe in #WomenInSpace and want to encourage people from diverse backgrounds to start technical companies
Have a think about where you might fit in the following four categories. If you’re one of these ‘types’ of person, you’ll be a great fit for this event.
Visionary – I see what the future could be and have great ideas about how to make it happen
Hustler – I can build relationships and influence people to make a vision a reality
Hacker – I look at a vision and work out how we can prototype and gain customer feedback
Designer – I walk in the customer’s shoes and work out the look, feel and taste of the vision
The recommended age for our event is 18 and up, and the only criteria for being a participant is a keen interest in space (or the data delivered from space) and the willingness to work in a team to build a start up idea from scratch.
We only have 50 spaces available for the New Zealand event, so register early on the ActInSpace website: https://actinspace.nz/register/
