Efforts for New Caledonia-New Zealand trade relations highlighted [fr]
The Official Representative of New Caledonia to New Zealand’s work in the economic sphere has been highlighted in a new television interview.
Dr Yves Lafoy spoke to New Caledonian business show Xport about the Delegation’s work to promote the economic appeal of New Caledonia and grow connections between New Caledonia and New Zealand.
Recent initiatives in this area have included:
funding two visits aimed at deepening cooperation in the horticultural sector (through the visit by a director of an innovative New Caledonian horticultural engineering business) and interactive technologies,
the joint coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) oftwo visits by a New Caledonian delegation to discuss wood indsutry standards (March) and construction industry regulations (August)
providing French entrepreneurs an overview of New Caledonia’s draft export strategy
a series of meetings with New Zealand governmental agencies dealing with Pacific economic exchanges; New Zealand Trade & Entreprise (NZTE), Pacific Cooperation Foundation (PCF), New Zealand Pacific Business Council, and Pacific Trade and Investment (PT&I).
Giving lectures about the promotion of the New Caledonian economy and New Caledonia’s integration inot the Pacific region, the latter being the subject of a presentation at the University of Canterbury in October
The promotion of New Caledonia as a tourist destination, in collaboration with Aircalin and New Caledonia Tourism NZ, through major events in 2017 like the Alliance Française French Film Festival (March-April) with 37,000 spectators and July’s Auckland Food Show with 32,000 visitors. Also in the tourism promotion sphere, the opening of a New Caledonian cultural and education corner at Christchurch’s Alliance Française in October.
