French ship delivers aid to Tonga after Cyclone Gita [fr]

The multi-mission French ship B2M d’Entrecasteaux has delivered 18 tonnes of aid to Tonga following Cyclone Gita.

The d’Entrecasteux, based in Nouméa with the Forces Armées en Nouvelle-Calédonie, carried material including tents, water and school resources provided by UNICEF, medical kits for pregnant women provided by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), as well as water and food donated by telecommunications operator Digicel.

The logistical coordination was arranged by the UN World Food Programme, with the support of the Ambassador of France to Fiji.
