General Information about the assistantship programme
The English language assistants programme was created between France and the United Kingdom in 1905. Since then dozens of countries have joined the agreement, including New Zealand. Be one of the thousands who have had the privilege to take part in this adventure
Salary: After tax, an English language assistant ’s salary is about 795 Euros per month (approximately $1,350)
Duration of programme and Dates: Primary schools: Seven or nine months, from 1 October to 30 June or 1 October to 30 April. Please note that most positions last nine months.
Secondary schools: Seven months, from 1 October to 30 April
Places Available: 30
Additional Information: Applicants usually get their first or second choice of "region" in France.
Applicants choose the type of school they wish to teach at (primary or secondary school)
Salary: After tax, an English language assistant’s monthly salary in Noumea is approximately 1529 euros or the equivalent amount in Pacifique Francs.
Duration of programme and Dates:
from the end of March to the end of October (seven months).
Places Available: 4
Additional Information: Positions are available in Noumea, Poindimie and Lifou (Loyalty Islands)
Salaries are higher in New Caledonia as the cost of living is higher there.
Salaries are calculated for 12 hours per week of teaching hours in small groups (8 to 15 students).
