Linguistic and cultural immersion in New Caledonia [fr]
From 19 to 26 May 2018, 14 students and 2 staff members of Alliance française Wellington (AFW) will embark on a linguistic and cultural trip to New Zealand’s closest neighbor, New Caledonia.
In addition to attending French conversation classes at the “Centre de rencontres et d’échanges internationaux du Pacifique, CREIPAC”, New Caledonia’s premier French language Institute, AFW’s students will have the opportunity to be fully immersed in the New Caledonian cultural life, with visits to New Caledonia’s key landmarks such as the Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Centre and the Museum of New Caledonia.
The trip was made possible thanks to the financial support of the New Caledonia Delegation in New Zealand. According to Mr Yves LAFOY, Official Representative of New Caledonia to New Zealand, based at the Embassy of France in Wellington, this linguistic and cultural trip contributes to the implementation of the "Education and Culture" component of the New Caledonia – New Zealand Joint Cooperation Plan, signed by the two governments on September 2016.
The "Education and Culture" side of the Plan aims to promote opportunities to develop French and English language and teaching exchanges between the two countries, and to explore initiatives to enable more students to study in New Caledonian and New Zealand’s institutions.
