Manuel Valls on official visit in New Zealand [fr]
The French Prime Minister, Mr. Manuel Valls was on official visit in New Zealand on May 1st and 2nd. This was the first visit by a French Prime Minister since 1991. Mr. Valls was received by his counterpart, Prime Minister Mr. John Key.
This trip allowed the Prime Minister to discuss the increasing integration of the French territories in the Pacific within their regional environment, and French-New Zealand cooperation as both countries celebrate the 70th anniversary of our diplomatic relationship.
This visit in New Zealand, currently a member of the United Nations Security Council, was also a chance to discuss our common fight against Islamist terrorism, especially against Daesh in Iraq.
One hundred years after the Battle of the Somme, during which thousands of New Zealand soldiers were injured or killed, the Prime Minister paid tribute to New Zealand’s unwavering commitment to freedom in Europe and in the world.
As part of his program, Mr. Manuel Valls met with New Zealand investors as well as the French community established in New Zealand.
