Stimulating economic exchanges between New Caledonia and New Zealand [fr]
Mr Yves Lafoy, Official representative of New Caledonia to New Zealand, visited Auckland from February 9th to 11th as part of a mission coordinated by the French New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (FNZCCI).
Mr Lafoy delivered to French entrepreneurs interested in New Caledonia an overview of the “Export Strategy” which is currently being drafted by the government of New Caledonia, and spoke in favour of the creation of a New Caledonia – New Zealand “business club”, in order to stimulate bilateral economic and trade exchanges.
Mr Lafoy also met with New Zealand Governmental agencies with competencies in economic exchanges with the Pacific Region; New Zealand Trade & Entreprise (NZTE), Pacific Cooperation Foundation (PCF), New Zealand Pacific Business Council, and Pacific Trade and Investment (PT&I). They confirmed their wish to intensify exports and imports with New Caledonia.
Identified as an avenue for collaboration, the program « Path to market » is intended to better define the economic environments of the two countries wishing to develop their relations and to identify their respective potential. It is aimed at facilitating the creation of joint ventures, of the transfer of technologies, and of investments. From this year, the program will allow the organization in New Caledonia of the seminar “Invest in New Zealand” which will be followed by an economic mission in New Zealand of New Caledonian entrepreneurs, who will be selected at the conclusion of the seminar.
