The Embassy of France in Wellington seeks a steward and executive chef for Ambassador’s Residence [fr]

We require an outstanding individual to take on the role of Steward and Executive Chef for our Ambassador’s residence.

Professional experience expected for this position:
• Purchase & Procurement
• Conception and creation of meals (cooking & pastry)
• Wine matching
• Management of a team
• Basic accounting

You need to be familiar with French cuisine. You may be required to prepare French dishes for the Ambassador and guests.

Your tasks will also include household management and maintenance of the building as well as equipment. You will manage a small teal of locally recruited employees.

A valid full driver’s license is essential. Ability to speak and understand French, as well as experience with large diplomatic or official functions, is highly desirable but not mandatory.

This position requires a high degree of availability because the work hours are highly variable and include evening hours (official functions).

You must hold New Zealand citizenship, or have permanent residency / valid work visa and permit (Working Holiday Visa holders are not eligible).
