The Quai d’Orsay launches its Travel Advisory app for tablets (iPad and Android) (December 24, 2012)
Following the success of its Travel Advisory app for smartphones (iPhones and Android-based smartphones), downloaded more than 100,000 times, a version for iPad and Android-based tablets is now available on Itunes and on Google Play.
Special attention was given to the ergonomics of this app. It is more intuitive, with navigable maps that optimally exploit the possibilities offered by tablets.
The other major change is a geolocation system that makes it possible to instantly identify the nearest French Embassy or Consulate.
This app expands the range of services offered to the public, including the corresponding link on the France Diplomatie website, the smartphone app, and the @ConseilsVoyages Twitter account.
With French mobile Internet users numbering more than 18 million, the Foreign Ministry aims to systematically offer special services designed for use with mobile platforms.
Digital diplomacy is one of the Foreign Ministry’s priorities, and it is very active on social networks, with more than 200,000 subscribers to its Twitter account @francediplo and more than 30,000 on its Facebook page. The France Diplomatie website is consulted by nearly 1.7 million users each month.
