French teachers’ website
nzaft.co.nz is the website of the New Zealand French Teachers Association
Born from a partnership between the New Zealand French Teachers Association (NZAFT), the Embassy of France in Wellington and the Ministry of Education, the website allows the French teachers to access pedagogical resources, and to strengthen their links with their colleagues.
To date, more than 300 teachers have registered on the listserv. All members receive a weekly electronic newsletter. All together, the website, the listserv and the bulletin bring fresh answers to the problems encountered by French teachers in New Zealand - the main one being a competitive environment for foreign languages, in which the languages and the teachers who will manage to extricate themselves will be those using the most up to date and dynamic teaching methods.
The distance between New-Zealand and France is, still in this internet age, a difficulty, and the website brings a very strong response to this by helping the teachers to share the resources already available in New Zealand and to find those which are still to be found, not yet available on Aotearoa.
The website development was given to Pascale Hyboud-Peron, a confirmed francophone teacher who has a passion for new technologies.
