Gift from French high-school to Christchurch Girls High School
On February 22nd 2011, students from the Jean Sturm High School in Strasbourg were in Christchurch taking part in a school exchange with Christchurch Girls High School. Affected by the earthquake that struck the city, the French students decided to help their New Zealand friends by fundraising for the school. A few months later, on July 13th, a cheque for NZD 47,400 (€ 27,000) was presented to the school by H.E. Mr Francis Etienne, French Ambassador to New Zealand.
The Ambassador stated that not only was this proof of the friendship between the cities of Strasbourg and Christchurch, but also between France and New Zealand.
